NCB WooCommerce Customer Trust & Privileges
Cash on delivery, without the parcels that come back.
Customers who prove they are serious pay a small refundable deposit and become members. Members get cash on delivery with nothing upfront. Everyone else prepays the shipping, so an uncollected parcel never costs you money.
Requirements
- WordPress 6.0 or newer
- WooCommerce 7.0 or newer
- PHP 7.4 or newer
Works with both the classic and the block checkout, and with WooCommerce High-Performance Order Storage.
Installation
- Buy a licence, or start the 14-day free trial. You will receive an email with
a download link and a licence key.
- Download the ZIP from that link.
- In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, choose the ZIP and
install it.
- Activate the plugin and enter your licence key when asked.
A new Customer Trust menu appears in the WordPress admin.
Before you activate on a live store: the moment the plugin is active, cash
on delivery becomes members-only, and on day one nobody is a member yet. Plan
about fifteen minutes to complete the setup below.
How it works
A customer pays a deposit once, for example 10 euros, and becomes a member. The deposit is not your revenue: you hold it and return it whenever they ask.
- Members pay by cash on delivery as usual, with nothing upfront, and
receive any other privileges you switch on.
- Everyone else sees cash on delivery with prepayment: they pay the
shipping and the cash-on-delivery fee upfront, and the value of the goods to the courier on delivery. If they never collect the parcel, you have already covered your cost.
- A member who fails to collect loses the deposit and the membership, with
one click inside the order.
Setup
1. Set the deposit amount
Customer Trust → Membership Offer. Set the deposit (for example 10) and, if you wish, edit the title, description and button text of the invitation customers see in their cart and at checkout. {amount} is replaced by the current price automatically. A live preview shows the result.
The invitation is shown only to logged-in customers who are not members yet.
2. Decide who gets cash on delivery
Customer Trust → Payment access. Each payment method has a rule:
| Rule | Who sees it | | --- | --- | | Everyone can see it | No restriction | | Members only | Only customers who paid a deposit | | Everyone except members | The opposite — used for prepaid cash on delivery | | Same as cash on delivery | For a method added by another plugin |
Activating the plugin sets cash on delivery to members only automatically.
If other cash-on-delivery methods are active, a red panel lists them with a Disable them button, which switches them off in WooCommerce → Settings → Payments and leaves only this plugin's own.
3. Set the cash-on-delivery fee
Customer Trust → Cash on delivery fees. Set a fee per shipping method — fixed, a percentage, or both — or switch cash on delivery off for a method entirely.
The same screen has No cash on delivery when the customer collects from the shop, on by default.
4. Switch on prepaid cash on delivery
Customer Trust → Prepaid cash on delivery, so that non-members still have a way to pay on delivery.
| Tab | What you set | | --- | --- | | General | Switch the method on; title and description shown at checkout | | Deposit | The prepayment: a fixed amount, or the real shipping cost plus a fee | | Payment methods | Your IRIS and bank transfer details | | Rules & consent | Order value limits, countries, and the consent text | | Internal policy | When the prepayment is refunded |
5. Choose the privileges
Customer Trust → Privileges. Each privilege is a switch:
- Free cash on delivery — the main one; what makes membership worth paying for
- Birthday discount — applied automatically during the customer's birth month
- Loyalty reward — a discount after a number of qualifying orders
- Gift product — a free or discounted product added to the cart
- Free shipping from a lower threshold
- Priority handling
6. Test it
Open your shop in a private browser window, add a product to the cart and go to the checkout. You should see what you expect for a customer who is not a member.
Day-to-day use
A customer becomes a member
Nothing for you to do. The customer clicks the invitation, the deposit is added to their cart and paid with their order.
| Paid by | Membership starts | | --- | --- | | Card | Immediately | | Bank transfer | When you move the order to Processing |
A prepaid order arrives
The order waits in Awaiting deposit and the customer receives payment instructions. When the money reaches your account, move the order to Processing. Unpaid orders are cancelled automatically after a few days.
A member asks for the deposit back
Customers request it from My account → My deposit. Privileges stop immediately, at the moment of the request.
Customer Trust → Deposits lists every request with its deadline. Send the money yourself, by bank transfer or as a refund on the original order, then press Mark as returned to record it.
The plugin never moves money on its own.
A parcel is not collected
Set the order to Delivery failed. The customer is added to Customer Trust → Blacklist.
If they were a member, use the Customer Trust panel inside the order: choose the problem Did not collect a cash-on-delivery parcel, tick End membership and keep the deposit, and press Update.
Licensing
Updates and support require an active licence. If the licence expires, the plugin switches itself off: its payment methods, privileges and restrictions no longer apply and the store behaves as it did before the plugin was installed — cash on delivery from any other plugin keeps working untouched.
Nothing is deleted. Members, deposits, privileges and settings remain in the database and return exactly as they were when the licence is active again.
Troubleshooting
Cash on delivery disappeared after I activated the plugin. That is the intended behaviour: it is now members-only, and nobody is a member yet. Complete the setup above.
A customer cannot see the membership invitation. It is shown only to logged-in customers who are not members. Check also that Show the offer to customers is ticked on the Membership Offer screen.
A member cannot see cash on delivery. Check that they appear as a member under Customer Trust → Members. If they paid by bank transfer, the order may still be on hold. Check that Free cash on delivery is switched on under Privileges.
Two cash-on-delivery methods appear at checkout. Another plugin provides one. Use the Disable them button on the Payment access screen.
Non-members see no cash on delivery at all. Prepaid cash on delivery is switched off. Switch it on under WooCommerce → Settings → Payments.
I want cash on delivery open to everyone again. Switch off Free cash on delivery under Privileges.
